Re: Hydrogen versus Gasoline
by AlanT
Hydrogen use for cars does not require that it be stored. A car can generate it's own hydrogen by using the alternator and a water/lye mixture to separate the hydrogen atoms from the air atoms in water. As another thought. I've found a system that produces 1 liter of hydrgen per minute using 25amps of current from a 12 volt source. I also found a portable generator that can produce 29amp continuously for 10 hours using 5 gallons of gasoline. If I do the math (assuming 1 liter = 1 quart) I get 15 gallons of hydrogen from 5 gallons of gasoline. Since hydrogen has more energy than gasoline I can run more than 3 times further on hydrogen. there are some other factors obviously but the obvious result is I can drive my car either by hydrogen by its'ef or with gasoline/hydrogen mix and reduce the cost per mile and the polution generated. I see this as a toatl win win situation.
