Oil exploration began in the early part of the century in northwest Louisiana.   The area is a historical treasure trove for seekers of old oilpatch lore and memorabilia.  The Oil City Museum is perhaps the best spot to begin your search.  If you’re near Shreveport, consider taking a short trip to the little town that time has forgotten and bask in a little petroleum history.
